Well hello! Myself Azra Syed. I am a fashion designer who’s currently a freelancer. Fashion Designing hasn’t just been a profession for me, it has played a major role in my process of growing up. As a kid my dolls were my models and the rags, ribbons and rubber bands were my materials and sources to create outfits. That is Something I enjoyed doing, something that made me lose track of time. Something that was my favorite pass time. It was the passion for fashion that taught me to be patient till I got that perfect silhouette without getting irritated and wanting to give up. I never had any confusion in deciding what I wanted to pursue, it was most certainly to become a Fashion Designer. As I grew up there were hurdles before I could educationally pursue my career in fashion but eventually I could. All the designers out there, I’m sure they could relate much, it was quite tedious physically but totally worth it. From sketching it and bringing in colors and sparkles and sequences to make an outfit look glamorous and stunning that started from a scratch on a blank white sheet of paper was all worth it when you are personally satisfied by the appearance of it. Having said that, bringing passion in whatever you do, plays a key role, it brings out the best despite the difficulty and discomfort that comes along with it. Well then, I was lucky enough to get a job even before I completed my term in fashion and that job was the best thing that could happen to me. It got me right in the midst of it. From traveling to the other side of town using almost every mode of transport, to spending hours in deciding the correct fabrics and embellishments and this time for real. It completely plunged me out of my comfort zone. And I cannot be more thankful for that opportunity. Fashion is all about making it happen, no amount of knowledge on fabrics is enough, till you are out there feeling every thread and textures of it and spending hours on it, without complaining just so you find the perfect fabric for the look you’ve already created in your head. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had that played a vital role in shaping me and to whatever knowledge and experience I have. This is just a head start to a lot of new beginnings and ventures.
P.S- Never thought I’d blog this down. But as they say ‘Never say Never’. The beginning is always today….
